ABOUT

TANK STEAMING

Our Tank Steaming Services

To facilitate unloading of bulk liquid chemicals from a tanker or ISO container, heating of the liquid chemicals may be necessary. In ISO containers or tankers, chemicals are warmed to achieve the right viscosity needed for unloading. At All Chemical, we are equipped with more than 50 steam stations to meet our customers’ product requirements.

The process of steaming bulk liquid chemicals starts at the bottom of the unit, where a steam coil is positioned. Heat radiates from the bottom, encircles the barrel to the top, and then down the container or tanker. The uneven distribution of heat can be balanced by ‘mixing’ the product in the unit through movement around the yard, which helps achieve the desired temperature.

Depending on the product, the steaming time can range from a few hours to several days. Our team is well-informed about all aspects of steam services (including safety hazards for certain products based on overheating or heating too quickly) and coordinates with our customers to collect essential information to preserve the integrity of the product. Our tank wash technicians maintain control over the product’s temperature during the entire steaming process.

In addition to our overall expertise, we boast these unique options:

  • Low and high pressure capabilities
  • Steam-regulating capabilities
  • Hot water heating (this is rare for most wash racks)
  • Capability to put several containers out on a steam
  • Redundancy with two independent steam boilers
  • 24/7/365 On-call boiler maintenance to fix an issue immediately
  • 24/7 monitoring with fixed interval monitoring as required by the customer

Once the load has been steamed and delivered, we can bring back the tank or ISO container to the Lakewood terminal for a full wash.
